The large, flat plot invites all kinds of outdoor acti­vi­ties – children can run free, play ball, and explore the sur­ro­un­dings. With a sandpit and a swing, there's plenty of fun to be had for the little ones. For the adults, the terrace is a true paradise – it surrounds the entire house and offers the op­portu­ni­ty to enjoy the sun from morning to evening. Part of it is covered, so you can light the grill and enjoy dinner outdoors, even if the weather is a bit tricky or the dew begins to fall. Perfect for long, cozy summer evenings when the children are playing in the garden while the adults unwind and chat about the day’s wonderful ex­pe­ri­en­ces. Tomorrow, perhaps, a trip to the beach awaits, where the whole family can enjoy a lovely day with sand between their toes and the sound of the waves.

Get up close to the local at­tra­ctions

Gjerrild Strand is popular for its lovely, child-friendly beach, where you can swim, pick oysters, and fish. The sur­ro­un­ding forests are beautiful year-round, and there are excellent running, walking, and cycling trails along almost the entire northern coast of Djursland. So, lace up your running shoes and pump up your bike – exercise during your holiday is de­fi­ni­te­ly not a chore here. In the summer, you can buy breakfast, ice cream, fries, and more at the campsite, just 400 meters from the house. On the way to the house, you pass through Gjerrild village, a charming little village with a church, a local store, and an inn. The inn serves de­light­ful Danish dishes, and just behind it, you’ll find Sostrup Castle, steeped in history. Don’t miss the Kattegat Center in Grenå, where you can meet strange fish, sharks, seals, and penguins, or visit the Museum of East Jutland in the beautiful 18th-century merchant’s house if you’re into cultural history. From Grenå, ferries depart for both Anholt and Sweden. Give the kids a huge thrill at the largest amusement park in the Nordics, Djurs Som­mer­land, or visit the old market town of Ebeltoft, the frigate Jylland, the Mols Bjerge National Park, and Ree Park. There’s plenty of exciting things to see and do all over Djursland.
