Get up close to the local attractions On your way to your holiday home, enjoy the charming little town of Gjerrild, where you’ll find a church, an inn, and a local shop. Gjerrild Nordstrand is a lovely, family-friendly beach with fine sand, a blue flag, and lovely dunes—ideal for families with children. Gjerrild Klint is one of Denmark’s top spots for birdwatching, and from Gjerrild Klint, you also have access to some of Djursland’s best fishing spots for sea trout. The area offers many great hiking and biking trails, including the popular North Sea Trail, which stretches from Udbyhøj by Randers Fjord to Grenå.
Grenå, the old market town, is just a 20-minute drive away and features charming pedestrian streets, sidewalk cafés, and exciting attractions like Museum Østjylland and the Kattegat Centre, where you can get up close with sharks, penguins, and seals. From Grenå Harbor, you can catch a ferry to Varberg in Sweden or the small island of Anholt. A visit to Djurs Sommerland, the largest amusement park in the Nordic region, is also a must and is just about a half-hour from the house, along with many other wonderful activities in Djursland.
