Unique, preserved summer house Ha­me­na­burg by Lakolk Beach

It is certainly not an exag­ge­ra­tion to call this beautiful summer house unique. Ha­me­na­burg, as the house is called, has a history that dates all the way back to 1900, when Lakolk was just establis­hed as a spa resort. In 2023, the house has been rebuilt according to all the rules of art, so you can look forward to spending your holiday in hi­sto­ri­cal, at­mosp­he­ric, and in­cre­di­bly lovely sur­ro­un­dings.

Welcome inside
History ent­hu­si­asts can find much fa­sci­nat­ing in­for­ma­tion about the time when bathing fashion arrived in Rømø, and when the holiday paradise Nord­s­e­e­bad Lakolk was establis­hed by the en­ter­pri­sing Pastor Jacobsen – complete with a music pavilion, heated bat­hhou­ses, and a re­stau­rant where spa guests could enjoy all their meals. Today, Ha­me­na­burg is one of the few summer houses that stands as it did at the turn of the last century, thanks to the new owners who chose to dismantle the house and rebuild it using both original and custom-made materials.

Outside, you can enjoy the sight of the house's little tower, yellow roof tiles, and red-and-white facade, while the modern extension and annex are di­scre­et­ly kept in black. Ha­me­na­burg's front door is an exact replica of the original, and the casement windows feature glass that creates a beautiful play of light. The beautiful tiles seen in the kitchen and behind the living room's wood-burning stove are of the same type that was used in the now-defunct Re­stau­rant Kai­ser­hal­le at the spa resort, serving as a lovely reference to Lakolk's past.

At the same time, you’ll get all the comfort you can expect from a modern summer house. The open kitchen is well-equipped, and in the living room, there is a flat-screen TV with Chro­mecast and tasteful fur­nis­hin­gs that provide a lovely setting for cozy moments. Through a glass entryway, you have access to the extension, which offers three lovely bedrooms and a beautiful bathroom with a shower niche and washer/dryer.

Enjoy life outside
Not just from the entrance, but from all rooms in the extension, you have direct access to the outdoors, making it very easy to get out into the sun. Sur­ro­un­ding the summer house is a de­light­ful terrace area with many good seating spots and sheltered nooks. For those who enjoy life, there is a pétanque court, outdoor spa, cold water bathtub, sauna barrel, and outdoor shower, while a shelter allows you to take a siesta in the shade – or spend the night in the fresh sea air. If you come in an electric car, there is a charger by the house.

Get up close to the local at­tra­ctions
Ha­me­na­burg is located on a small gravel road just a few steps from the open dune landscape that leads down to Lakolk Beach. Whether you take the trip via the small paths or follow the road to Lakolk Shopping Center and the descent, you are not far from the beach, which is one of Europe’s widest sandy beaches and a fantastic place to play, swim, fly kites, and relax to the sound of the North Sea waves.
