Architect-designed holiday house by the water’s edge with room for several families
House-ID: 12241Light, space and room for activities inside as well as outside are the keywords for this fabulous architect-designed holiday house by the water’s edge at Sjællands Odde.
Welcome inside
Here you have room for the very large family or two families, with a total of four bedrooms. From the spacious common room in the centre of the house as well as from two of the bedrooms, you may enjoy the view of the sea for hours or days and all year round, regardless of wind and weather. In the activity room you can play or have a game of billiards, while others can enjoy a cosy time in front of the wood burner. When darkness is falling, the huge common sofa with room for everybody is the centre for being together and having a cosy time, unless a board game hits the big dining table.
Enjoy life outside
You can enjoy your breakfast on the north-facing terrace, and in the afternoon you may sunbathe on a sun-bed on the south-facing terrace, before you go for a swim in the fresh sea right in front of your nose. Afterwards you can light the barbecue and enjoy nature, the fresh air, the roar of the waves and the light until sunset. On the very huge plot there is also plenty of room for ball games or maybe a game of croquet, if you do not prefer to play beach volley or beach tennis.
Get close to the local attractions
The house is located in Yderby Lyng at Sjællands Odde, a beautiful nature area with possibilities for angling and bathing from the Kattegat side towards north and Sejerø Bay towards south right on your doorstep.
Sjællands Odde offers several walking routes, and at Gniben you may walk on a coastal path in the unique undulating country, Stenlejerne, also called Topperne, an area for stone digging dating back to the 1870’s until the 1960’s. Amongst others, parts of the Kieler Canal were constructed with stone from Odden.
On the churchyard close to the village Havnebyen, by the red-painted Odden Church, you find a monument for the fallen in the naval battle of Sjællands Odde on March 22 1808 plus a memorial column for the naval hero Peter Willemoes. Havnebyen at Sjællands Odde offers several eating places from Restaurant ”Den Gyldne Hane” to ”Café Tunen” and the well-stocked fishmonger Odden Fisk, open all year round and during summer also offers a fish buffet.
The harbour environment also includes play areas for children, an exhibition about the great days of Tuna fishing at Odden, a yachting harbour and fishing cutters, cultural activities in the former Auction hall and not least the Odden Røgeri (=smokehouse), designed by the famous Danish architect Arne Jacobsen and inspired by the island of Bornholm.
After a nice walk and lunch at the harbour, we at Feriepartner recommend you to go down Søndervangsvej to the exciting gift and inspiration boutique Kastanjelys that -amongst others- sell wines from Ørnberg Wine whose vineyards are located across the road. Søndervangsvej brings you past several farms and detached houses with a breathtaking view of the Sejerø Bay.
