You can look forward to living the sweet vacation life when you spend your holiday at Bornholmervej 4 in Vesterhede. Here at this address, you’ll find a thatched cottage that, after a successful renovation, exudes both historical charm and modern comfort— and with two living rooms, two bathrooms, and five bedrooms, you can even share the vacation experience with both friends and family.

Welcome inside
“Bornholmerhus,” as the property is called, has a history that dates back to the 19th century. It was first owned by whaler Captain Andersen and later by a merchant family. Although today it is furnished as a stylish holiday home, you can feel transported to another time when you walk through the garden gate and approach the decorated front door. Indoors, the rooms have been carefully decorated with Dutch tiles, folk-colored wooden furniture, and other objects that fit beautifully— but also with modern interior design, ensuring top-notch comfort. For example, you’ll be pampered with both a hot tub and a sauna in the largest of the house's two bathrooms, and the well-equipped open kitchen will delight any cook when it’s time to fry and bake. In one of the two living rooms, there’s a cozy fireplace to gather around: Perhaps this is where you’ll sit for hours until it’s time to retire to the inviting bedrooms.

Enjoy life outside
The natural plot is impressively large, which means that the house is set back from neighbors in the beautiful landscape of Vesterhede. Surrounding the summer house is a well-maintained garden, and it is a wonderful oasis with blooming beds, screening greenery, and a lovely lawn where the little ones can play, perform somersaults, and lie down gazing at the drifting clouds in the sky. When the sun shines and the temperature is warm and summery, all meals, from the first cup of morning coffee to dinner, can be served on the terrace— and thanks to the grill, you can even prepare the food outdoors if that’s what you dream of.

Get up close to the local attractions
Vesterhede is a lovely place to spend a holiday, as the natural surroundings are quite stunning, and you’ll find it easy to get around the whole of Rømø. The summer house is just a few minutes’ walk from the beautiful church of the Wadden Sea Island, and from here you can continue straight into Kirkeby tree plantation. For example, you can head towards the viewpoint Spidsbjerg, and if you want to go for a long walk, you can follow a 17-kilometer hiking trail that takes you around the entire southern part of Rømø. From the house, you have short distances to the nearest grocery store, a bakery, and a mini-golf course, and Havneby is also close by if you want to shop at the fishmonger, play golf, or cross the Wadden Sea on the ferry route to the famous German neighboring island of Sylt.
