Welcome inside

Imagine waking up to the endless blue expanse of the Kattegat. Perhaps you hear the distant cries of seagulls or the gentle sound of waves rolling onto the shore. Here, in the old lighthouse keeper’s residence at Gjerrild Nordstrand, you are close to the sea, nature, and a sense of freedom—a place where time slows down, and there is plenty of space to enjoy the simple pleasures of holiday home living. This charming two-story house is steeped in history and coziness. The ground floor welcomes you with a warm and inviting living room, where the wood-burning stove crackles on cooler days. At the dining table, you can enjoy meals with an unbeatable view—overlooking the ever-changing hues of the Kattegat. The kitchen is both charming and functional, equipped with everything you need to prepare the day’s catch or a delicious homemade meal. The ground floor also features two lovely bedrooms, both with double beds, as well as a bathroom that, while showing its age, works just as it should. From the entrance, a staircase leads you to the first floor—where the magic truly unfolds. A spacious and beautifully renovated living room invites relaxation and comfort, and through the terrace door, you step out to an extraordinary experience: A balcony with panoramic sea views, where you can savor the sunset with a glass of wine or start the day with a cup of coffee while the world slowly wakes up. On this floor, you will also find a large bedroom with three sleeping spaces—perfect for a restful night, accompanied by the soothing sounds of the sea.

Enjoy life outside

The property is made for outdoor living. The well-maintained lawn invites play and ball games, while a small terrace by the courtyard provides the perfect spot to find shelter, enjoy a quiet moment with a good book, and admire the charming outbuildings with their beautiful old stable windows. The garden is lovingly maintained by a robotic lawnmower, quietly tending to the grass while you relax and take it all in.

Take the very short stroll down to the beach, where the sand is soft, and the water is shallow—ideal for both small and big swimmers. The area is also renowned for its excellent fishing opportunities, so why not put on some waders and try your luck with a fishing rod?

Get up close to the local attractions

Nature, culture, and adventure are key themes of this area. Gjerrild Nordstrand is one of Djursland’s hidden gems, where unspoiled nature and rural charm go hand in hand. Birdwatchers travel from afar to experience the rich birdlife at Gjerrild Klint, and the beach is a fantastic place to hunt for amber when the tide recedes.

There are plenty of opportunities nearby. Hop on your bike and follow the scenic trails all the way to Fjellerup—don’t forget to pick up fresh fish at the harbor in Bønnerup on your way back. Explore the town of Grenaa and visit the Kattegatcenter, where you can get up close to sharks, penguins, and fascinating sea creatures, or simply wander through the town’s charming streets and marina.

And of course—thrill-seekers shouldn’t miss out on Djurs Sommerland, the largest amusement park in the Nordic region, just a 30-minute drive away, always introducing exciting new attractions.

For those interested in history, Djursland is rich in cultural heritage. Several museums are scattered across the region, and nearby you will find Sostrup Castle, Meilgård Castle, and Herregårdsmuseum Gl. Estrup, where you can explore Denmark’s past up close.

A Place for the Little Moments That Matter. In this historic lighthouse keeper’s house, you become part of the landscape—the nature, the history, and the endless horizon of the sea. Here, there is room for life’s simple joys—morning coffee on the terrace, evening strolls along the beach, laughter over a board game, and warm summer nights where you drift off to sleep to the rhythmic sound of the waves.

Welcome to Gjerrild Nordstrand. Welcome home.
