Beautiful holiday house with unique location in Bjergene
House-ID: 16642The area Bjergene in the south-western part of Odsherred makes up the southern part of the Vejrhøj Arch, and in this wonderful protected area with sea view you find this fantastic holiday house. It was built in the style of the former smallholdings that you would find on the poor soil, and the area today presents some of the most well located and most exclusive houses. The area is located close to the cosy village Ordrup and close to a good bathing beach.
Welcome inside
You will feel transferred to another era in the wonderful living room with visible joists and double-height ceiling, the old-fashioned porcelain stove and the big dining table, from where you can overlook the Sejerø Bay and the island Nekselø. In the cosy and rustic kitchen you will enjoy brewing the coffee and preparing breakfast and the other meals for the family. After a nice walk or a day by the beach it is wonderful to take use of the sauna in the house, before you go to bed in one of the total six bedrooms in the thatched property on two levels.
Enjoy life outside
The big nature plot is sloping down towards the coast by Vindekilde Strandvej with a panoramic view of the Sejerø Bay and the two islands Sejerø and Nekselø, even all the way to Kalundborg in clear weather. There are several lovely wooden terraces with table/bench settings, where you may sit enjoying the breathtaking view from the front row and the peace and quiet that is dominating this protected nature area. With just a few steps you reach the undisturbed stony beach, where you may put your sea kayak, windsurfer board or SUP onto the water; or maybe you brought your fishing rod from home, for on the stone reef there are good chances for a nice catch, amongst others sea trout but also flatfish and in season garfish. Close by you have the public sandy bathing beach Vraget, among the best beaches in Odsherred.
Get close to the local attractions
Right next to the holiday house you have the Vejrhøj Path, a newly established footpath up to Vejrhøj hill.
With its 121m above sea level, Vejrhøj is one of the highest points on Zealand and also the highest point in the Vejrhøj Arch. From here you have a unique view – from the drained Lammefjord towards east past Dragsholm Castle to the Nekselø Bay with the inshore lake at Sanddobberne. In clear weather you can see the entire landscape from the high chimneys in Kalundborg, onwards to Nekselø island, the island Samsø, the mainland Jutland, the island Sejerø and Ordrup foreland with Sjællands Odde in the horizon. The people of the Bronze Age have established one of the neighbourhood’s 14 burial mounds from the Bronze Age on top of Vejrhøj to honour their deceased.
The 3,8km long path will lead you through unique nature, earlier not accessible to the public. Please note that the path is very steep and cannot be recommended to the poorly walking. In some places it has a rise of 18% and may at the same time be slippery and uneven.
