Description
When Hindemae manor and mill was established in 1806 it was the biggest mill in Denmark. After undergoing a full renovation in 2004, furnished as a vacation home, a lot of the quirky and beautiful details on the building were preserved. The result is a fantastic vacation experience in a unique setting where you will find plenty of opportunities for the whole family or larger groups. All of it is to be found in a scenic area on Funen where new experiences await round every corner.
Imagine a nice family evening in the big living room of the mill which is almost like a great hall – coffee in your cup, a glass of something nice, a boardgame on the table, or just a nice and quiet time with your family. Imagine a walk in the beautiful grounds by the mill that look like a small and well-kept park at sundown. Imagine ending a day full of new experiences on Funen with a dive in the outdoor swimming pool and a trip to the sauna… If you imagine all these things and opportunities, you will have a clear picture of what it would be like staying at the beautiful mill.
Respectfully renovated and furnished
As soon as you set your eyes on the property, you will know how many charming and fun details it has to offer. From the white main building to the red tile roof to the angular tower. On top of this, there is the furnishing which fits the style of Hindemae Mill. Till 2003 it belonged to Hindemae Manor owned by the Juel-Brockdorff family and which lies only 500 meters from the mill. If you need more beds than the twelve found in the mill, then Hindemae is also for rent as a vacation home (look at MS66724). This increases the options you have regarding to the size of families and groups that wish to stay and make home on Eastern Funen.
Indoor and outdoor activities
You will find both indoor and outdoor activities, and activities for the whole family, at Hindemae Mill. In addition to the walks in the garden with its sheltered nooks, you will also find table tennis in the garage and a trampoline in the garden (at the tenants’ own risk/insurance). You will also find the aforementioned swimming pool. The swimming pool is not covered nor heated but it does provide for a nice and cooling swim in the period of June 1 to October 1 where it is open. The sauna is practically located in the garage.
All around Funen:
New experiences for the whole family and all ages
The mill and its location in the scenic beauty of the area is by itself an attraction that many families enjoy. But they also enjoy the location of the mill in relation to the many experiences all of Funen has to offer. There are a lot of options in terms of field trips on this beautiful, green island in the middle of Denmark. At the nearby Odense City, you will find anything from the house of Hans Christian Andersen to Odense ZOO, The Funen Village, cultural experiences, and shopping. All around Funen, sprinkled about the countryside, there are no less than 124 castles and manors. A lot of them are open for visiting. Egeskov Castle on Central Funen, for example, is open and we are not only talking about the castle and beautiful park but also interesting exhibits and a big playground for children.
If you have brought bikes on your trip, Eastern Funen, and Funen in general, has plenty of opportunities for going on beautiful biking trips round the island, such as a trip to the Hindsholm peninsula or the spit Enebærodde. Many also find the relative short distance to the coast yet another bonus.
