This unique holiday home is a part of Tranekær Castle on Langeland and can be traced back to 1910. The house, the Waiter´s House, has an exciting history which goes back to the time of slavery. The released slave Anthony worked at Tranekær Castle after his release and became a butler who served the residents at the castle during many years. After his death, the house has been used as an apartment for waiters at Tranekær Castle. The Waiter´s House has been upated completely and is today decorated with a mix of furniture from the castle and modern furniture. The house is two-storeyed and includes on the ground floor a living room, a dining room with woodburning stove, separate kitchen, modern bathroom with 2 showers and 1 bedroom. There are another 4 bedrooms on the first floor. As a tenant of this house, you can access the outdoor area with a backyard and a garden with a lawn. Arrival day Friday.
The area
Tranekær is located on Northern Langeland in beautiful and peaceful surroundings with woods about 7 km north of Rudkøbing where there is a child-friendly beach. With its old timber-frames houses, Tranekær is worth a visit. The town is also known for the castle Tranekær Slot with the nice park and the mill Tranekær Slotsmølle where organic flour is being produced today. Here you can enjoy a holiday with a touch of the wonderful atmosphere that the Danish castles and manor houses are surrounded by.
